1. Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The International Journal of Information Technology and Computer Engineering (IJITCE) adheres to ethical guidelines in all stages of publication. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, ensuring that articles are original, scientifically sound, and ethically produced. Any form of research misconduct, including but not limited to plagiarism, falsification, fabrication of data, or unethical human/animal experimentation, will result in immediate rejection and may lead to a ban on future submissions.
The journal also follows the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to handle cases of misconduct. Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to adhere to these ethical standards to ensure the credibility of the publication process.
2. Editorial Policies
-
Editorial Board: The journal maintains an editorial board consisting of experts in the fields of information technology and computer engineering. The board is responsible for upholding the quality and integrity of the journal.
-
Decision-Making Process: Editorial decisions are based on the scientific merit of the submitted articles, with attention to the originality, relevance, and clarity of the research. The editorial board strives to ensure impartiality, transparency, and accountability in its decision-making.
-
Authorship: Authors must meet the criteria for authorship, which include substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. Each author is required to confirm their approval of the final manuscript.
3. Conflict of Interest and Financial Disclosures (Specific to Editors)
Editors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their objectivity in handling manuscripts. A conflict of interest includes, but is not limited to, financial relationships, personal connections, or professional ties to any author, institution, or competing research.
All editors must sign a declaration of interest upon appointment and update it regularly. In case a conflict arises during the review process, editors should recuse themselves from handling the manuscript in question. This ensures unbiased and fair decision-making.
4. Peer Review Process
-
Double-Blind Peer Review: IJITCE follows a double-blind peer review process, where both the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure impartial and unbiased assessments.
-
Reviewer Selection: Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the subject area. The journal strives to maintain a diverse and internationally recognized reviewer pool to ensure broad coverage of topics.
-
Review Criteria: Manuscripts are evaluated for novelty, scientific merit, relevance to the field of information technology and computer engineering, methodology, clarity, and contribution to the discipline. Reviewers are also encouraged to assess ethical considerations, including potential plagiarism.
-
Reviewer Confidentiality: Reviewers must keep the manuscript and its contents confidential and must not share or use the information for personal gain.
-
Review Timeframe: The journal aims to provide initial feedback within 3-4 weeks of submission, though this may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the paper.
5. Creative Commons License
IJITCE adopts a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0) for all published content. Authors retain copyright of their work but allow others to share, adapt, and build upon their research for non-commercial purposes, provided appropriate credit is given.
The license encourages dissemination and use of scientific knowledge while ensuring the proper attribution of authorship and preventing commercial exploitation without consent.
6. Editorial Process
-
Submission: Authors submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. The submission must follow the journal's format and guidelines.
-
Initial Screening: The editor performs an initial check to ensure the manuscript adheres to the journal’s scope, format, and ethical standards.
-
Peer Review: After passing the initial screening, manuscripts are sent for peer review, as detailed in Section 4. Based on the reviewers' comments, the editor will make a decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection.
-
Revision: Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ feedback. The revised manuscript should address all comments, and authors must provide a detailed response to each point raised.
-
Final Decision: After the review and revision process, the editor makes the final decision on the manuscript’s acceptance or rejection.
-
Publication: Accepted manuscripts are published in the next available issue of IJITCE after final proofreading and formatting.
7. COPE Recommendation for Plagiarism
IJITCE adheres to the guidelines provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning plagiarism. Manuscripts that are found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected. The journal uses plagiarism detection software to identify any potential issues before publication. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the paper will be retracted or corrected, and the author(s) will be notified.
8. Publisher Policies
-
Copyright: Authors retain copyright of their works. However, by submitting to IJITCE, authors grant the journal the right to publish the work in all formats (print, online, etc.) and to disseminate it to the scientific community.
-
Open Access: IJITCE is an open-access journal, meaning all published articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide. This promotes greater visibility and impact for the authors' work.
-
Archiving: The journal participates in various digital archiving initiatives to ensure long-term accessibility and preservation of published content.
9. Advertisement Policies
-
Editorial Independence: Advertisements and sponsored content must not influence editorial content. Advertisers cannot have any editorial control over the journal’s content or the peer review process.
-
Content of Advertisements: Advertisements must be relevant to the field of information technology and computer engineering. Advertisers are prohibited from promoting products or services that are unethical, misleading, or irrelevant to the scientific community.
-
Disclosure: Advertisements will be clearly marked as such and will not be included within the content of articles, reviews, or other editorial material.
10. COPE Recommendation for Conflict of Interest (Specific to Editors)
Editors are required to follow the COPE guidelines for handling conflicts of interest. If an editor has a conflict of interest in relation to a manuscript, they must declare it and recuse themselves from the editorial process for that manuscript. This ensures a transparent and impartial review process.
If a conflict of interest is discovered after publication, the editor will take appropriate actions in consultation with the author(s) and reviewers, including possible correction or retraction of the article. Editors should also disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence editorial decisions.
