This paper reports on the design and
development of a Smart Health
Monitoring System on the basis of an
Arduino-compatible
microcontroller
platform. The system includes several
sensors, such as a load cell sensor for food
intake monitoring, an analog heart rate
sensor, for real-time continuous health
monitoring.
Caloric
intake
is
approximated through a simple weight-to
calorie
conversion
model,
whereas
physiological data is compared to
predetermined thresholds derived from
offline analysis to determine readings as
falling into safe, warning, or critical levels.
The system actively identifies potential
health threats such as excessive caloric
intake or aberrant vital signs and acts
through a tiered alerting system involving
an onboard buzzer and a Bluetooth
communication
module.
These
notifications are presented in audio and
digital forms, allowing instant notification
on attached devices like smartphones or
smartwatches. Conceived for mobility,
usability, and real-time responsiveness,
the envisioned platform is ideal for
personal health monitoring and integration
into wearable healthcare ecosystems.
